Thirty and one years ago this day,
October sun dazzled like now;
Danced like now on her brow,
As she bounced my way.
Smiling smiles that outshone
The sun as folk walked along;
While inside I sang a song
Until she had gone.
Yet I knew, she knew, before long
Our song would be a duet
Until the sun had set
Amid the passing throng.
